Being on the road and highways are never truly safe, but being on the road during New Year’s Eve is even less safe. After all, many people have been drinking, and because it is a holiday, there tends to be increased traffic. But, for those walking, the danger is heightened as they are surrounded by a vehicle’s steel infrastructure. Instead, they are at the mercy of it and the road. And, for one local resident, he faced this unfortunate reality head-on.

The pedestrian-car accident

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the 42-year-old pedestrian was struck while attempting to cross Wedington Drive near Casey’s convenience store in Fayetteville on New Year’s Eve. The pedestrian was rushed to a nearby hospital. At the time of reporting, he was in stable, but serious, condition.

The driver stayed on scene. It is unknown if the driver received a citation, and according to the FPD, the accident is still under investigation. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact FPD immediately

Options after car accidents

For Fayetteville, North Carolina, residents that have experienced a car accident, there are options. If one is hurt by a careless, negligent driver, our state’s civil justice system is here to help get the compensation accident victims need. This is why it is so important to contact an attorney immediately after a car accident though. They will make sure that the other driver’s insurance company does what it is supposed to do: pay for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and other losses.
